Hebgen Lake Fishing - Montana

Hebgen Lake Montana

Back to Fishing Map

Hebgen Lake is about 18 miles from RedRock RV Park. Some guides believe Hebgen is the finest dry fly lake in North America. Hebgen has a good population of cutthroats, rainbows and brown trout. It's a big lake and there are many choices to put in. The Madison and South fork arms are a favorite of the fly fisherman. These are on the eastern section of the lake where the Madison River feeds into the it.

More Information
Fish along the Hebgen lake arms range from 14 to 18 inches with some into the 20 inch range.  Non-fly fisherman Hebgen can be just as productive.  There are many 20 + inch rainbows caught from trolling boats. You'll need a Montana license to fish here. WARNING
Bootjack Pass road is actually Red Rock Road.
